Whether we are researching, writing or designing, our jobs require us to spend a lot of time at our desks. As we looked for a way to spend some time outside and stretch our legs, we found the answer in kickball. And, no, it’s not just for fifth graders anymore.
Our team, the TRINDGROUPers, joined a coed adult kickball league organized through the City of Auburn Parks and Recreation department. It’s a great way for us to bond, exercise and unwind after a busy week behind the computer screen. We like to play hard just as much as we work hard.
We chose kickball because it’s the perfect sport for our diverse group of people looking to earn some Fitbit steps and those just interested in building team spirit in the dugout. Unlike softball, which we played last year, kickball is equal parts laid-back and fast-paced to perfectly cater to our team’s varied interest levels. Softball also led us to a quick realization that we are much better at PR, marketing and design than accurately swinging a bat at a flying ball.
Our roster is stacked and even more talents are being discovered. Claire, an account specialist, has proven herself to be a worthy pitcher, and Cassie, a senior account specialist and former softball player, is a third base powerhouse. So far, the TRINDGROUPers are more than half way through the season and have a 3-5 record. No matter the outcome of the season, our team is having fun relearning the once-elementary school sport and growing our skills on the diamond.
Whether in the office or on the field, we are always on the ball.
